Background of the College
The higher education system in Ethiopia, like many global counterparts, has experienced significant changes driven by social demands, market competitiveness, and technological advancements. Key national priorities include aligning curriculum design with employer needs and adapting to rapid digitization and artificial intelligence. The emphasis is on producing responsible professionals through an integrated model of instruction and research, with societal impact as a key measure of success. Ethiopia aims to enhance education quality and teacher training under its ten-year development plan, addressing gaps in teaching competencies and resource allocation. Thus, Hosanna College of Education (HCE), founded in 2001 and reestablished in 2003, must develop effective strategies to align with national and regional educational goals to overcome challenges in quality and relevance.
