Hossaena College of Education Community Service Directorate
Overview
Delivering community service in our society is one of the duties and responsibilities of our college. In this regard, the community service directorate is dedicated to delivering community service by facilitating and supporting training, establishing and organizing different resource centers like science laboratories, English language improvement, libraries, pedagogy centers, STEM, and SNED centers in primary and middle-level schools in our region. Moreover, it is facilitating and supporting the conduct of research on different identified problems in selected areas in our society and engaging in activities based on environmental protection.

The community service directorate is committed to bringing good quality education to our region and our country by sharing the responsibility of facilitating and supporting training, establishing and organizing different education resource centers in primary and middle schools in our region, and also supporting people with social and economic problems.
Vision
To make our college a center of excellence in teaching, research, and delivering community service for the benefit of the citizens of the CERG (Central Ethiopia Region Government) state and our country.
Objectives:
Promotes training and consultancy service in various professional and technical areas and provides the service competitively with the best quality
To establish and organize selected middle schools by resource centers and science laboratories by locally available materials, then make them the model schools in our region
To establish STEM centers in the college and select good scourer students from our reginal organization and teach in summer program.
Guides and supports the department in their effort to facilitate delivery of outreach and community engagement service in the area of excellence of the department
Promote, supports and facilitates staffs and students engagements in community development activities through different mechanisms such as practicum, community development centered curriculum design from training, leaflets bulletins mass media
Organize public lecture and seminars on current issues and community concerns enterprises
Performing Thematic areas under this Directorate
Quality of Education
Giving tutorials for grade 7 and 8 students in selected centers in our region
Organizing and facilitating the preparation of videos on different subject booklets for different years in the grade 8 regional exam and the grade 12 national exam, then distributing them to different schools in our region.
- Facilitating and supporting training for pre-primary teachers on new curriculum, child pedagogy, play-based pre-primary education, integrated pre-primary education, new teaching strategies, and others.
Facilitating and supporting training for primary and middle school teachers on new curriculum, content, and new teaching strategies; school leadership; CPD; and other
Facilitating and supporting the organizing of laboratory, English language improvement, pedagogical, library, and SNED resource centers in primary and middle (grade 7 and grade 8) schools.
Establish and organize a STEM center in the college and select outstanding students from different middle-level schools (grades 7 and 8) in our region and teach practical-based approaches in a summer program.
Establishing, organizing, and facilitating one model school in selected primary and middle schools in Hossana town.
Facilitating and supporting Finote Tibeb pre-primary school in our college
Conducting Research and publication
Facilitating and supporting for conduct research on different identified problems in selected areas in our society.
