Academic Staff Affairs directorates

The office of the Academic Staff Affairs contributes in realizing the vision of the College through mobilizing and organizing all its academic and non-academic staffs for effective implementation of teaching-learning activities. Academic staff affair directorate is one of the directorates in Hossana College of Education that ensure and oversee that the process of recruitment and appointment of academic personnel are carried out as per the rules and regulations. Plan and monitor the implementation of academic staff evaluation and see to it that promotions are carried out as per the legislation and applicable laws. Devise and implement mechanisms for timely processing of payments and benefits for academic staff. 

Academic Staff Affairs has leadership responsibilities for planning, implementing, and coordinating the educational programs of the colleges. The director work closely with Academic and Research vice Deans, Administrative and Community service vice Dean, Human Resource Director, other administrators, and members of the colleges

Objectives of the Academic staff affairs

General objective:

To fulfill academic staff manifesto to the best of academic staff ability 

Specific objectives:  

  • To be the voice of the academic staff at union meeting, general meeting, ideal forum, the official meeting and in any other required meeting 
  • Create, adopt and implement successful best practices and model of teaching and research 
  • Identify departmental needs for instructional professional development.  

Duties and responsibility:

  • Oversee the academic staff recruitment , scholarship and promotion process based on the needs, requirements and standards of college 
  • Direct, coordinates and follows up academic staff evaluation 
  • Assist the appointment and promotion process of academic staff  
  • Assist department in developing academic resource center like offices, internet center, recreation centers, etc. 
  • Manage staff housing issues  
  • Follow up academic staffs status on study leaves, and academic staffs profiles on duty 
  • Follow up academic staff related payment issues 
  • Ensures the conduciveness of teaching-learning environments for the academic staff 
  • Prepare annual and semiannual staff development plans 
  • Carries out other relevant tasks assigned to him by the vice dean for Academic Staff Affairs/Academic Commission

Hossana College of Education provides supportive teaching and learning environment. Our college’s mission and course of action is to improve the education system. We are divers and thriving teaching and learning community committed to promoting excellence and preparing tomorrow’s teachers, educators, scholars, and leaders. Hossana College of Education offers high quality specialized programs (certificate, diploma and degree) and the core requirement course designed to prepare students to meet the needs of the job market according to ministry of education recognized criteria. It is determined to educate and prepare citizen who can serve the community.  

By conducting research, training and other activities the college continues to cultivates, built and maintain strong and effective relations with the community and stakeholders. Our goal is to enhance our existing program as well as develop new high demand undergraduate and graduate programs focus on education and humanities in the coming years.  

Our college strives to create a positive working environment through inclusiveness and diversity, in which all students are given the support they require to realize their unique potential and develop the creativity and resilience required for a successful career in education.
